Denise Turney (www.chistell.com), author of the books Portia, Love Has Many Faces, Spiral, Long Walk Up and Love Pour Over Me (to be released early 2010) will interview Dayton, Ohio’s Valerie Coleman on Off The Shelf. Valerie Coleman is a magazine columnist and editor of the anthologies Blended Families and Tainted Mirror. Coleman is also a book and music publicist who has worked with established gospel music artists like Christopher, Tonya Baker, New Harvest and The Hebrew Children.

Gospel singer Tonya Baker has worked with award winning artists like Marvin Sapp, Ben Tankard and Karen Clark-Sheard. New Harvest is a gospel group that hails from Denise Turney’s hometown of Dayton, Ohio. The group was nominated for three Dove Music Awards in 2009. The Hebrew Children also hail from Dayton, Ohio. The group has performed with gospel artists like Dr. Bobby Jones, The Williams Brothers, Chico DeBarge and the Clark Sisters.

Valerie and Denise will discuss the details that go into effectively promoting national music artists, what to look for in a good book and music contract and the importance of artists being familiar with the business side of their particular industry. Denise will also ask Valerie about her anthology Blended Families, a book that includes true life stories from other writers who are adjusting to life as step parents. The writers will also discuss Valerie Coleman’s anthology, Tainted Mirror. The latter book deals with the importance of reassessing inaccurate self-perceptions which were acquired during childhood so that readers can move forward in their lives.

“Writers who have overcome the challenges to getting published can offer valuable advice and insight to up and coming authors,” Turney states. “It is for this reason that I continue to bring Off The Shelf’s listeners hour long interviews with authors and publicists like Valerie Coleman.”

Off The Shelf (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Denise-Turney-) is going into his sixth year on the air. The radio program conducts feature interviews with new, seasoned and bestselling writers, agents, editors, script writers, publicists and literary agents. Turney states that, “The goal for Off The Shelf is to encourage artists to continue to hone their craft and connect with an educated and insightful reading audience. The radio program also exists to encourage people from all walks of life, particularly youth, to continue to read good books and strengthen their literacy skills.”
