Boneless Chuck, the Original Bean Bag Buddy, Finds New Life Thanks to the Web and Loyal Fans
October 08, 2007
Oct 09, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Los Angeles, CA – October 9, 2007: Boneless Chuck, the creation of artist Graham Sale, made popular in the 1980’s as an illustration and a bean bag doll, is back by popular demand from fans all over the world. Chuck was featured on T.V., radio and in newspapers across the country two decades ago, even receiving write-in votes for the Governor of New Jersey. However, the recession ended his success and the loveable, pink pal faded away in the early 90’s. Or so Sale thought. In 2005, Sale decided to launch www.bonelesschuck.com with a landing page that linked from his commercial art site, www.grahamsaleart.com. To his surprise Boneless Chuck had fans – fans who were thrilled to find him and eager to share what they and Chuck had been up to the past two decades.

For Sale, the response from fans searching for Chuck was so overwhelming it convinced him to bring Chuck back. “It was unbelievable,” said Sale, “Bikers took him to biker rallies, cancer victims took him to chemo, fans got him on T.V., had articles published about him and traveled the world with him. I heard from men and women of all ages whose stories and photos made you laugh hysterically or cry with empathy. Chuck was a nonjudgmental, supportive friend when they needed one; helping them face difficult times with strength and humor. Chuck is a metaphor for whatever people want him to be. I was so moved, I knew I had to bring him back no matter what it took.”

Chuck’s fans searched exhaustingly for him over the years, wondering where their loveable friend had gone. Boneless Chuck fan club president, Meta Kennedy, was thrilled when she found his creator and discovered so many others shared her love for Chuck. “Chuck has taught each of us to be a little more daring, a little more confident about ourselves, and to enjoy life now with those around us,” Kennedy writes.

Boneless Chuck has been photographed in each of the United States; 40 countries on six continents and has even been to The Olympics and Elvis Presley’s grave. More astounding, Chuck has been a comfort to victims of illness and abuse, many of whom share their inspirational stories and photos with Sale, who posts them on www.bonelesschuck.com and Boneless Chuck’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/FansofBonelessChuck.) Boneless Chuck and a variety of other merchandise are available now online. Boneless Chuck makes a clever and heart-warming gift for kids and adults as he represents something unique to all and during October 25% of all online sales will go toward finding the Cure in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness the month.

Sale and Boneless Chuck work to raise money for charities and other non-profit events throughout the year via his “b the message” campaign. Additionally, Chuck will be fund-raising for events and accompanying several groups walking and running for the Cure all over the globe.
