Author Selects Recipient for Royalty Donation

Oct 26, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --"Author Marilyn Thompson is donating one half of the royalties from her new book Outlaw Children Sacrifice and Redemption for one year to local Charity"
by Tony Thompson

Sharing Life Community Outreach in Mesquite Texas has been selected to be the recipient of 1/2 the royalties for the first year on the book Outlaw Children Sacrifice and Redemption by author Marilyn Thompson. Following is a quote from email sent to Marilyn by Marjorie Seward describing the organization and its services.

"I'm writing in response to your article in the Neighborhood section of the Dallas Morning News. I volunteer at Sharing Life Community Outreach in Mesquite. We have a food bank and clothes closet and serve Mesquite and Balch Springs and the surrounding zip codes. When we first opened 7 1/2 years ago, the North Texas Food Bank asked us to serve the zip codes surrounding Mesquite and Balch Springs because they were so underserved. Last year we served over 30,000 clients. We have a school supply program where we provide 1000 or more Mesquite children with school supplies, including back packs. We also provided over 1200 children with Christmas toys last Christmas and gave their families a Thanksgiving basket. Other agencies in Mesquite have been here a very long time and are well established in the community. It's a constant struggle for us to keep enough food to feed out clients. We used to serve up to 50 families a day - now we have to stop at 30 families a day. We turn people away on a daily basis because we just don't have the money to keep buying food. We spend $600 to $800 a week to buy food. We buy what we can from the North Texas Food Bank but that is limited and we always have to go to grocery stores which adds up in a hurry. We are supported by some of the area churches and individuals and school groups. We get documentation from every client to prove how many people live in their house, their address and their income. We feed anyone who walks in our doors who is hungry. Whether they're working, not working, on disability, raising grandchildren, married with children or single, homeless or living with friends or family or struggling to stay in their own house or apartment, we help them because they're already in a bad situation. We don't want to add to their stress and often embarrassment by sending them away. If they don't live in one of our zip codes, we still feed them that day and give them information where they can go the next time. Teresa Jackson, our executive director, insists that all the volunteers treat every client with dignity and respect. I've been a volunteer at Sharing Life for almost seven years.
This is a worthy organization, and for every book sold in the first year the organization will receive 1/2 of the royalties. Buy this book and help them out.
