Atlanta Company Launches Billboard Campaign Featuring Provocative Images of Black Men
Atlanta, GA April 2006: Currently, there’s a lot of attention focused on the new Calvin Klein billboards of young men modeling underwear. The billboards of the non-black models continue the long-running tradition of sensual billboard advertising by Calvin Klein. However, what about sensual images of the black male?
For now, the answer to that age-old question is Rundu.com, a daring, yet tasteful web presence that focuses on sensual photography featuring black men and women – especially men. The company behind the website, Rundu Enterprises, Inc., recently launched an advertising campaign via billboards in Atlanta, Georgia.
Though the larger-than-life billboards are finally up, the task wasn’t easy. Rundu Staggers, the African-American, female photographer behind the company’s images, has grown concerned about the mindset surrounding the predisposed “fear” of sensual images of the black male. While risqué billboards such as Calvin Klein and Abercrombie & Fitch often times go up without incident, the Rundu billboards, which feature a sensual image of a black male, were met with resistance.
With its array of provocative but classy books and calendars, Rundu Enterprises, Inc. carries a mission to break down stereotypes and show that black men can be depicted in a sensual light.
Rundu also photographs a 13-time, award-winning calendar line and coffee table book that have sold over 250,000 copies combined. Furthermore, along with its free galleries of tasteful images, the www.Rundu.com website encourages interaction by posting original, erotic short-stories written by site visitors in a section titled Bedtime Stories which has fast become one of the more popular destinations of the site.
Rundu Enterprises, Inc. is a seven year-old company that is 100% African-American and female-owned which strives for a high degree of excellence in its sexy, classy presentation of black men and women.
