The Art of Keeping Your Boss Happy!

SILVER SPRING, MD—A video contest illustrating concepts in “The Asskisser’s Manual: The Art of Keeping Your Boss Happy!” was announced by the Beckham Publications Group. A grand prize of $500 will be given to the winner, chosen in March by public votes at the book’s web site, http://www.akisser.com.

Contestants must purchase the ebook version of the manual and produce a video of three minutes or less about one or more of the book’s themes. The contest begins December 15, 2006 and ends March 15, 2007. Rules and registration are at the book’s website, http://www.akisser.com.

“We thought that the topic would attract some creative approaches to the concept that we all can relate to,” says publisher Barry Beckham. “Everybody reports to some boss—even if it’s a spouse or instructor,” he adds.

The 72-page manual was written in Portuguese by Brazilian journalist Ademar Gomes. He died in 2003 at the age of 72 after writing seven other books. Beckham published the English translation this year after Gomes’ daughter contacted him. “I recognized the work immediately as a classic of humor and advice,” Beckham says. The Beckham Website also includes a sample chapter at http://beckhamhouse.com/title_ass.html.

The author maintains that although true ass kissers are born that way, their skills can be improved. His techniques and tips are meant to give readers the chance to study and restudy the recipes for success.

Gomes’ 19 chapters tackle topics like happily accepting blame; courting the wife; looking good, but not too good, and achieving absolute subservience. The book jacket features laudatory comments from bosses at Thyme-Wanna Inc., U.S. Steal, and Came Bridge University.

At the Website, visitors can join the International Ass Kissers Association to share tips, give advice, plan, and complain. The ebook version sells for $3.95, and the hardcopy is available at local bookstores for $7.95.
