A pet store that cares
HappyPets, Inc., a newly opened pet store, cares about your animals just as much as you do.
Brooklyn, NY: Make way for the pet store that cares! HappyPets, Inc., a newly opened Brooklyn-based pet store, offers animals for adoption into homes, as well as a variety of premium pet foods for every stage of your pet’s life.
“HappyPets was designed with the sole purpose of extending the same sort of care to other people’s pets as we would to our own,” says Tara Cernacek, one of the owners of HappyPets. “We’ve tied up with several animal rescue groups to find safe, comfortable homes for their wards.”
HappyPets was founded in April by the husband-and-wife team of Tara Cernacek and Jason Miller, long-time pet lovers. “We’ve acquired a dog, eight cats and four turtles over the course of 15 years,” says Miller. HappyPets does not “sell” live animals; instead, it hosts animal adoptions in the store, in coordination with various rescue groups.
“Loving animals as much as we do, we just couldn’t bear the thought of selling animals into homes that won’t treat them well,” says Cernacek. “This way, we ensure that these adorable animals will be cared for and loved, by people who understand the needs of their pets.”
The first adoption event hosted by HappyPets, on May 13, proved to be a big success. All the animals that were rescued by the Brooklyn Animal Foster Network were adopted or placed in foster homes. HappyPets also donated starter kits for all adopted animals. In addition, the store is fostering a litter of kittens from the fist event to be put up for adoption at the next event on June 3rd. HappyPets’ community involvement extends beyond pets too; it will be a sponsor of a race next week to support the local high school’s girls track team and is sponsoring concerts in the park this summer.
