2007-03-13 /prbuzz/ -- Following a recent successful exhibition at her home in Brittany, France, which was also broadcast online, Artist and Children’s book illustrator Sarah Wimperis is very pleased to announce the launch of her new web site:
www.sarahwimperis.co.uk

Over the past year, Sarah has continued to with her illustration work and set out to develop her painting. Her paintings now sell internationally on the Internet, and in galleries around the world, directly as a result of her ‘Painting a day project’, a record of which was kept online, which you can view via the website.

Sarah initially started painting a day as a way of pushing herself to explore and cross the boundaries of her painting techniques, which as any artist knows, can only be explored with rigorous discipline and a heartfelt commitment. During this last year, Sarah completed a new work every day for 220 days. A remarkable feat! In her wake, many artists were inspired to do the same, but few were able to sustain the outcome of a new work every day.

However, what became the painting a day movement does appear to have increased the confidence of the buying public. Making use of the Internet, it has opened up new possibilities for direct communication between the artist and the buyer, making art both more accessible and affordable. Individuals from all over the world were able to follow the progress of Sarah’s work and purchase individual pieces that had particular resonance for them.

Perhaps one of the most exciting moments for any artist is when individuals start building up collections of your work, when they begin to see a resonance that extends beyond the narrative of a single painting, and many people have begun to do just that.

As two collectors point out, ‘It is the drama of tenderness and strength evoked in the everyday that Sarah manages to convey through her playful yet deliberate use of paint, drawing on the subtle blended influences of Vermeer, the Impressionists and Pointillists that we are enthralled by. In a world where we are inundated by photographic and filmic images of the everyday, it is wonderful to find a painter who is taking these subjects to her heart and imbuing them with a beauty and unique clarity that can only painting can bring.’

Not surprisingly, sales and demand for Sarah’s work continues to increase, both in Galleries and on the Internet. You can view her work for yourself at www.muddyredshoes.blogspot.com

You can also read her blog; a good-humoured reflection on her life and work in Brittany. You’ll be in good company – it was listed in the Guardian as one of the best!
